Re: HP Thin Client T520 ThinPro Blocks while using RDP

Dear DylanJohn,

In our company we have the same problem with the exact same Thin Clients, I was hoping you could update me on your status.

We are working with a RDS server 2016 through a gateway connection. It is a local server connected trough a gigabit Lan connection.

All of the 10 thin clients have some screen artifacts. Two of them have it all the time.

Relogging does not help and we changed almost all settings with no succes of fixing it.

On Google I cant find much about this problem with this specific thin client.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Bram

Dear Bram,

My status is still the same, which indicates that HP ThinPro Linux is not 'really' compatible with Windows Servers.

We use both Windows Embedded Thin's as HP ThinPro Clients, the Windows ones all work well.

Trying to update drivers and more but none respond to the glitches within the RDP session.

Resolution is the same as on the server; bitmap caching is out; server speed is high-end.

My last thing is to put on the OSimage of Windows; because ThinPro ain't the right way to use..

Dear DylanJohn,

Thanks for your reply.

This realy sucks. So you are now putting the windows 10 ioT image on the clients?

I would like to stay in touch. If that is possible it could be an option for our customer.

Thanks again and good luck!

Bram

Dear Bram,

In reply to you question: So you are now putting the windows 10 ioT image on the clients?

Yes, going to try it with one of the Thin Clients. Probably the RDP on a windows based one works proper, as of the T520 windows embedded in our company work fine.

I will stay in touch!

How to copy Image from Sharder drive on to USB drive to image multiple thin clients

$

I currently manage a GOLD image for T510 & T520 Thin Clients, to do this I create an image and capture it with HP ThinUpdate. Once completed this then gets copied to a shared drive. This image can then be copied to a new USB stick that is bootable and is then used to image the relevant Thin Clients.

My Issue is that I have tried to do the same with the T530 image, however HP have changed the way they format the USB drive into 2 drives, One contains all the boot files and the other contains the flash.ibr file.

On a Windows 10 PC I can see both of these as seperate drives, but if I try to copy the files over to another USB drive (that has been formated using Thin Update) then when I come to use the image it fails at 0% stating that it can't find the Flash.IBR file, even though it reports that it has found it when booting up the Thin Client with the USB stick installed.

So what i'm tring to do is:

1. Upload the image to a shared drive.

2. Copy this image to another USB stick.

3. Use the USB stick to install the image on a new  T530 thin client.

Hopefully some one can help with this issue.

HP Device Manager 4.7 SP 7 - Managing Windows 10 IoT Windows Licenses

I am working on deploying HP T530 Thin Clients with Windows 10 IoT, and am wondering how the licenses can be managed on a static image.

Windows 10 IoT is requiring a unique key be applied to each thin client, which is generally fine since they each come with one, however, the HP Device manager does not seem to have a way to save the key from a thin client and then deploy that key after imaging.

has anyone worked through this issue yet?

Thanks!

System BIOS issues - how do I restore to latest version?

Last week I downgraded the BIOS on my HP Z440 Workstation to version 1.62 Rev A. I got the bits and the instructions from the HP Drivers and Software support page for the product:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-z440-workstation/6978828

The issue that I was seeing is that after turning on the PC, there was no signal coming out of the DMS-59 port (on the NVIDIA 315 NVS graphics card that I was using). I've connected a DMS-VGA adapter and then try connecting the VGA cable to a display port on a Dell monitor, but the monitor is not picking up a signal--previously (before the BIOS downgrade) it was working fine. All other lights and noises on the desktop computer leave no indication that anything is wrong--but I have no way of checking because I cannot see the display of the computer. I have an ethernet cable attached to it and am able to use the command prompt on a different computer to successfully ping the HP Z440 that is having issues. I would just remote into it, but I never "enabled" remote connection in the HPZ440's settings.

I tried seeking help on a different forum (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/Graphics-output-doesn-t-work-after-I-downgraded-system-BIOS/m-p/6603472/Pop_SU#M100334) but was instructed to come here.

At this point, I don't even want this older BIOS version, I am fine with the latest BIOS version. I tried restoring the BIOS following the instructions on this page :

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05163478

but only could get to step 8. (I had heard the 8 beep audio code, but then the system never turned back off).

Any suggestions? The computer is new, so I have no problem doing a full blown restore, although I thought that's what that document that I just listed was aimed at.

Try from within BIOS.... I was working on a Z640 recently and it has the ability to update BIOS from within BIOS like many of us prefer to do (it is safer given that no OS is loaded).  I found that this approach had a primative ability to initiate contact with HP from within BIOS for BIOS update and downgrade.

I had loaded the supposed fix for the latest Intel mess, and was quite unhappy with the result.  This approach allowed me to navigate a bit and fix the issue.  I ended up with an older version than the messed up new release, but this older version was newer than the one that already was on the Z640.  It came from the mothership.

Try that and let us know....

not going to happen,....HP would be in for a world of legal issues providing  information like this to a 3rd party such as yourself

if what was in the box was the wrong item you will need to take this up direct with HP

oh no the pc boots when plugged in to power the last time i used it was a while back havent used it since i dunno 1-3 years its just when on desktop it says on battery 1 and 2  plugged in not charging

i did open the pc up but i did it extremely carefully following a youtube video i looked at everything not touching anything nothing appeared wrong

but the steps i did try to do to fix it were

1. i heard you ca revive a broken battery so i seperated the tablet from the keyboard and plugged the adapter in and out rapidly not damaging the port so i heard you can revive a battery by doing this 20x then when a device reads it it willl recognize it needs a charge

but i got a response from it when i put the tablet back on the keyboard and booted it up to where it goes on the black screen with all the words ( with the adapter plugged it to the keyboard which is giving power to the screen ) instead of 2 batteries not charging it only said battery 2 not charging but when i got to desktop it still said both not charging , later when i booted it up later and it went to the black screen it says battery 1 and battery 2 not recognized

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back Smiley Wink

I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:

Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.

Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Also, Go through them all and let me know what you have determined is causing the issue.

The first document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.

Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge

Battery Charging Delayed When Operating Notebook in High Ambient Temperatures

great question. one that has been asked a million times by most pc users and corporations. it has no single answer. I always tell my friends and family: buy a new pc when you want it and dealing with your current one gets to be a frustrating experience - assuming is still functional
