These systems should come with a 3 year onsite warranty. you may want to check if the warranty is still active

unfirtunately, the la2405wg dp connection is not fully compatible with current hardware implementations, so the only choices are: use the dp-vga adapter you already use, or move to a newer monitor

Re: DriveLock

drivelock is a technology that puts a password on the sata drive controller. in this case, the (some) laptop put a password on your drive. the bios then provides the password every time the unit turns on and the drive controller then spins up the drive. it is a security feature that worked very well - unless you are a large government agency with lots of resources to hack it. extremely hard otherwise

so, unfortunately, i do not know of a way to recover that pwd, since it is embedded in the drive controller itself and expects it every time it powers on

I was going to update my post earlier today, I made a mistake on the monitor having problems it is the LA2405x which is experiencing these problems, the LA2405wg works as does an LA2205wg. Earlier today we ordered about 40 dp-vga adapters as a stop gap until this could be resolved. We probably have several hundred of the LA2405x monitors in use at our organization and this is a major bummer.

Are you talking about the Win10 from Microsoft or HP brand Win10?

If that's the default HP Win10 image from factory, then you don't need to worry about the license. The license should have been added into BIOS during the DASH process in the factory. It will be activiate automatically after having the internet connection.

A dumb question - do you have multiple Repositories or just one? Please be aware that when capturing, the image file go directly to MasterRepository while for deploying, it is from the Child Repository if there is any.

Can you please attach agent.log and imageprogress.log in c:\windows\xpeagent when the error happen?

Is port forwarding allowed between the VPN branch and the headquarter?

You can check the HPDM DEPLOYMENT WHITEPAPER for correspondent port to build DM connection.

The white paper can be found through HPDM Consle -> HELP - > White Paper

I found the article:

SUPPORT COMMUNICATION- CUSTOMER ADVISORY -- Advisory: HP Z1 / Z420 / Z620 / Z820 - USB 3.0 Device Not Recognized With Front / Side USB 3.0 Port

from April 2012.

stating:

Method 2: Install Texas Instruments IOI USB 3.0 2+2 Port PCIe Drivers Version 1.12.24.0 or later.
HP has written SoftPaq SP57314 that resolves the issue. Download the SoftPaq and read the instructions carefully before proceeding.  SoftPaq SP57314 may not be the latest available version of the software.

______________

That driver seems to be applicable to Windows 7, not your Windows 10 system.

I looked at HP's FTP-site: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/

but 'SP57314' is not found in that directory.

Weird!

Re: Z1 workstation Gen 1 Display backlight problem

As it is a Z1 from generation 1, there is no longer a warranty on it.

That is the bad part of it.

Nevertheless it is still running fine. Just the screen is darker on the right corner.

So it should be something with the backlight itself or with the electronic part (inverter) feeding the bachlight.

So I would need those part no., to buy it and exchange it.

Thanks for your answer anyway

windows 10 has native (generic) usb 3.0 drivers that do work with the onboard usb 3.0 ports

if windows is not seeing the usb 3.0 ports then you have a OS coruption or a hardware/bios config issue

since you have not provided information on the driver you are trying to install i can not be more specific than to say it appears that you are trying to install the wrong driver or that somehow you have previously installed a incorrect driver

for this device

you might want to try the steps in the link below:  (also applies to win 10)

To the OP..... where exactly did you get the Texas Instruments USB3 chipset installer you used for your Windows 10 Pro 64 bit build?

Re: HP Z420 USB3.0 Windows 10

I didn't get any installer for TI chipset... I had only installed Win10 and all the software update from HP site.

I noticed now that i cannot see the TI USB controller in Windows Device Manager.

HP ProDesk 600 Mini G1 desktop, not seeing SSD drives randomly (NO SYSTEM DRIVE ERROR)

$

We have 16x HP ProDesk Mini G1 desktop in the company, all purchased together in August 2015 (still covered by 3y warranty, but it doesn't matter) who are all coming with 500 GB 7200 RPM HDD from the factory. Since they were pretty slow PCs, we decided to upgrade all of them with some high performance ADATA Ultimate SU800 128GB SSD (ASU800SS-128GT-C) about a year ago, 128GB is large enought because we have file servers and PC only have Office 2016 (O365) installed... The overall performance upgrade is monstruous and we are extremely satisfied of the tiny investment ($).

But we have a totally random issue with all of the 16x PCs, were it may happens like once per 2-3 months, where a user simply reboot the computer (soft-reboot, from Windows 10 start menu), then the computer are not seeing the SSD anymore and indicate "NO SYSTEM DRIVE PRESENT" at boot. The fix is extremly simple, the user only have to power OFF the computer and start it again and 100% of the time, it work flawlessly. I first suspected something with the BIOS version, so I updated all my ProDesk to the lastest BIOS from HP... but the problem is still present, very randomly, but still affecting all of the 16x PCs.

It's defenitely not a big issue, but I would like to know if maybe there's a permanent fix for this issue? Maybe it's a BIOS setting who needs to be changed from factory default? PLEASE NOTE that I would not suspect any incompatibility issue with the SSD drive model itself, because on the 16x desktops, I also have 3x of them I had upgraded to SSD earlier using Kingston and Crucial SSD drives and who have SAME ISSUE. So only 13x of my ProDesk have the ADATA SSD but all 16x are affected.

Thank you very much.

I’m pretty sure the W3690 is bad.  I received the replacement w3680 today, popped it in and everything works fine.

New question “anyone know if an E5-2683 v4 will work in a z440?” I just happen to have one and was thinking it should way outperform the E5-1630 v3

I want to thank the forum for all the time and effort that went into trouble shooting my problem.

There is a bit of a mess here to wade through......

Google search for "Z420 drivers" and go to the top HP link there.  It will detect your W10 build assuming that is how you get there.  It defaults to the OS you are connecting from.

For me from a W7Pro64 workstation it detects that, but there are no official HP TI USB3 drivers for W10, or W8.1, but there are for W8.0 and W7.

You'd think the W8 driver service pack was more recent than that for W7, but no.  The W7 drivers are from 2014 but the W8 drivers are older, from 2013.  W8 drivers are 1.0.0.0, but the provided W7 drivers are 1.16.3.0 (more recent).

You want the later W7 HP SoftPaq... SP65043.   This latest driver SoftPaq will automatically load the proper items for a 32-bit or a 64-bit install.  How to get those if you have a W10 link to the HP driver site?

Simply use "Change" in the light blue bar to convert over to Windows 7 64-bit and then click the dark blue "Change" button inside the lighter blue area.  Go to "Driver-Controller" section and download the SP65043 from there.  Run it under W10 and you should be good to go.

I'll check one of our W10Pro64 ZX20 builds to see if the W10 upgrade process updated the TI USB3 drivers at all.

Deskpro EXM original dual-boot config?

$
0
0

Having recently acquired an ancient Deskpro EX (EXM/P800/20c/6/128cn UK), I was wondering what the original layout of the operating systems was on this machine?

I've been able to deduce that it was supplied with a dual install of NT 4 Workstation and 2000 Professional on a 20GB drive - would I be right in thinking that NT4 was installed on a 2GB FAT16 partition and 2K would have taken the rest of the drive on an NTFS partition? Does that seem correct for the standard layout?

Any clues would be appreciated!
