I would like to use two monitors on my HP200 Workstation. It came with both graphic card installed. But I could NEVER get the computer to recongize both graphic cards. It only recongizes one at a time. So I'm unable to use two monitors on this computer.  How can I get both graphic cards to work, instead of using one or the other?  Help!!

The files were most likely unpacked incorrectly while transfering to your thumb drive.  Depending on if you are using UEFI or BIOS on the computers you wish to install you need to install the correct bootloader installation.

I prefer YUMI which you can get here
https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

Rufus Bootloader is also a great tool

https://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale

Both of these support UEFI and BIOS.  All you need to do is run, and select Windows 10, and select your clean Windows ISO.

If the ISO is corrupt it will not work and you will have to repair or rebuild it.

I understand you are in need of support,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

When was the last time it worked without these issues?

In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:

As it states very clear in the error message, Those two software's are also a part of the package. Delete them first and you should be able to un-install that. Smiley Happy

Let me know how that pans out

Windows OS on SAS drive

The drive for my z240 was starting to go bad, so I duplicated it onto a SAS drive because that's all I had available. The z240 won't boot or see the drive, is there a setting in the bios I need to change or a possible driver I need to install.

Unfortunately, adding liquid cooling to the HP Z620 is not so straight forward, but if you're determined enough, it can be done. You can easily buy an after-market GPU water block for the GTX1080Ti as I did from the likes of Alphacool. (FYI - they have after-market kits (front and back) for most Nvidia cards including some Quadro cards).

You may be interested in my previous mod when I converted a Quadro M2090 to liquid cooling and installed it successfully in my Z620. I ran this with a Quadro K4200 and dual E5-2690 v1 CPU's. If your unsure or don't want to modify the chassis then you can always feed the hoses through an empty PCI slot on the rear of te chassis (as per my current GTX1080Ti).

Here's the link.

Since you are running at stock CPU speeds, i.e. you are not overclocking, then your CPU's won't require liquid cooling. I'm liquid cooling my E5-1680 v2 CPU because I have it overclocked to 4.7GHz to max out it's single threaded performance. I'm an engineer by profession so modding is in my nature and I like to see how far I can max out performance.

my apologies to SDH and the original poster, i did misss the header stating the system model

had to many windows open, and was in a rush

which is not a excuse, rather a  acknowledment that i should have not have been trying to do several things at once

before leaving for the night

the HP 620 as almost no free space when using dual cpu's and not much space when not using the second cpu riser card

due to the limited space hp does not offer a liquid cooling option for this model, and if you tried to make a custom one from scratch, it would be expensive and the radatior and cooling fans would need to somehow be attached to the outside of the case since there is no room inside

as for the faster cpu's are you looking for,  no there is no faster  for your system as far as i know

the 2690 is the fastest 8 core  @  3.80   and the 4 core 2687W is also the same speed

lol @ Barachiel.

looks like if you want to remove the one program you have to remove all three.  just remove all three programs and try a reinstall if you want to use one of the programs on the list.

also ccleaner is a great way to remove programs the do not show up in the windows uninstall programs section.

Just wondering if this was resolved?

Sadly no!

The machine works without the riser, but I suspect that a power brownout did a number on the motherboard. I even tried with a known-good riser, still no dice.

swap the cpu/ram between the riser card and the motherboard one at a time.

this will remove them as points of failure.

if the system rums after the swaps, the issue is most likely something on the riser card or motherboard riser socket

check the motherboard/riser for bulging caps also inspect where the riser mates to the motherboard, and trace the power supply lines if possible

swap the power supply,

if all of the above fails to resolve, then the motherboard may be the failure point

Thanks!

I already tried with minimal RAM, checked the riser socket, checked with anoth riser, changed PSU, swapped the CPUs even.

Pretty sure something on the motherboard got fried. All 32 threads were running one minute, then when I came back to office, it was just making some sad bleeps.

Without the riser, it has been running fine since I posted this thread.

If anyone has a spare z620 motherboard, I would be very happy to PayPal the postage ... Or could trade for a riser (no cpu/mem but with shroud and cooler)

the z240 unlike the bigger models (640/840) only supports SATA (no SAS)

to use your SAS drive as a boot or data drive you will need to install a SAS/SATA pci-e card that supports booting

http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/GetPDF.aspx/4AA6-1449ENW     (read page 11)

i would recomend a dell Perc series card such as the perc 310 which can be found on ebay for around 40.00

note that any card will also require the drive connector cable(s)

for the 310 you need  a (SFF-8470) Mini-SAS to 4x SATA Forward Breakout Cable

To make it simple, if the host-controller side is a SAS connector (SFF-8470) and the target side is SATA drives then you must always use a SAS to SATA Forward Breakout Cable

Re: SD 4 card reader for HP EliteDesk G3 800

Edit: My bad. I should have checked that you entered your PC's P/N down there. So it's the Tower PC variant, then. Well, as I said, you could fit the "15-in-1" card reader, but I forgot to mention you'd have to choose between that or your DVD drive.

Even though your EliteDesk 800 G3 Tower PC has a tower chassis, the 5.25" bay is vertically mounted, so there's room for only one of those. G2 towers had either a 3.5" bay alongside the 5.25" one or a blank spot for the SD 4 Card Reader depending on the model.

I'll leave the original reply "as is" for reference, though. Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry if I couldn't tell from your message whether you bought the Tower PC, Small Form Factor (SFF) PC or the Mini PC.

The first generation of the EliteDesk line of business PCs, as well as some of the workstations from the Z line, used to have the "15-in-1 Media Card Reader" (P/N F4N90AA) listed as an option part.

This part fits either into a 5.25" or a 3.5" drive bay. Since all SFF models, starting with G2, don't feature the 3.5" drive bay anymore, this would currently fit into the G3 Tower PC only. The only option would be the "SD 4 Card Reader" you mentioned for SFF PCs.

So, if you bought the Small Form Factor PC, there's an "SD 4 Card Reader" you could fit in there. You should look for P/N 759030-001. It looks like this:

From a quick Google search, it seems to be available at eBay and Amazon. It should be available at local PC stores as well and maybe even HP's Parts Store.

This is plugged to a blue USB3 connector on the motherboard (or a black one depending on the board's model, but doing so would dowshift the card reader to USB 2.0 speeds).

In any case, I'd advise having a technician assist you in determining whether your PC's motherboard does indeed feature any of these connectors and if the chassis would require any additional bezels, screws etc.

Finally, if it's the Mini PC, then yeah, you won't be able to fit anything into it, it's too small to accomodate any additional parts.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Hito

Do you see something like:

i.e., showing just '1' rectangle, or showing '2' rectangles?

When you click 'Identify', does a huge '2' show up on the 2nd monitor?

Are you configuring the 2nd monitor to "mirror" the first monitor?

Or, are you "extending" the Windows desktop into the second monitor?

such that when you move the mouse-pointer beyond the "right" edge of '1', it appears on the '2' screen?

Re: Meltdown/Spectre Intel bug

Note that HP issued an advisory on 23-JAN-2018, indicating that they are "withdrawing" all the BIOS updates they created for Meltdown/Spectre, due to issues arising on systems that installed the update.  HP indicated that a "better" [my words] update will be released [probably in February, IMHO].

Note that every Windows operating system has vulnerabilities.

Some of those vulnerabilities were patched on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 [2nd Tuesday of the month].

Some of those vulnerabilities will be patched on Shrove Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

Some of those vulnerabilities are still unknown -- patches are not yet available.

So, one may debate about whether the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerability is any different than all the other vulnerabilities.

It's my understanding that the operating system must first be compromised, by some other "rogue" software, before a program running on that compromised system can exploit the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerability.  So, if the computer is compromised, it is already compromised.

I have to first get device manger to notice my two graphic cards, thus the screen resolution would then make sense.

Model of computer?

Manufacturer and model-number of the each graphic card?

Are both cards connected into a PCI-E X16 slot?
