Re: BIOS settings configuration via HPDM

Hey Chen,

Again thank you veru much for your response!

Now its working but i haven't use your template because in set_520.txt file i need to specify some other settings then i have unzip edit txt file zip again but after editing and zipping again when template importing it says payload missing.

I have made one Get and Set templates with _File and Registry ofcourse with your help and finally it worked.

What i have done i captured BIOS setting by applying Get templates and its ran successfull after i addeded that bios setting txt file in the Set template and applied this task to client and it also worked successfully.

But my question is in our set template we ticked reboot after all subtasl finished, so its rebboted after tasks are performmed successfully and when i go to thin clinet  by remote desktop connection and go to drive C and check "Temp" folder inside are files :

These files should be deleted after rebbot because its in temp folder even i tried with write filter disabled and after set bios then enable the write filter but still files are there.

My questiion is after applying set bios config template, these files need to be there or we can delete these files after successfull execution of set bios config template because starting temp folder is empty and i think after first reboot temp needs to becleared. Please clear my doubt regarding theses files it should be there always or we can delete.

Thnaking you!

Have  a nice weekend.

Best Regards

Syed

if you think about this you will have your answer!!  (hint....each update fixes bugs, and closes off security holes)

latest current bios is  00.02.12 Rev.A sp85182.exe and is a required update as it increases system stability acording to the release notes the link i provided does show g3,  but the file is also  for the G1 also as this bios covers all the 200 series models  per HP bios description:  This package is used to update the System BIOS on HP Business Desktop models with an P04 Family BIOS.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-290-g1-microtower-pc/16665152

i also checked with HP middle east web site and they list it the same way

https://support.hp.com/emea_middle_east-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-290-g1-microtower-pc/16665152

how do you know the card is not seen? does device manager show a unknown device when it's inserted?

startek does not show a win 10 driver for this card only XP to win 8, so i suspect the card requires drivers in order to regester as a ser/par device you can

https://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/Serial-Cards-Adapters/2S1P-Port-PCI-Express-Parallel-Serial-Combo-Card-16550-UART~PEX2S5531P#dnlds

startech does not make this card, (they just slap their logo on it and resell) the actual maker 's web site for your cards

MCS9835 chip  is http://www.asix.com.tw/download.php?sub=driverdetail&PItemID=127

but this site appears to be offline at the moment

i would contact startech support via their websites email support link and inquire if win 10 64bit drivers are availabe from them

and from the MS support site:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware-winpc/mcs9835-pci-to-dual-serial-and-single-parallel/439d45b1-6e3e-4675-8586-ff9c18aaf3c9

Thank you, have you read the numer?

TPM20_7.62.3126.0_to_TPM12_6.43.243.0.BIN ?

TPM12 is lower then TPM20. So it´s a converter.

sorry, i  did not make clear that you want to have the latest revision of the TPM series  firmware branch that matches the OS you will be using

as i stated previously  ver 1.2 branch  is for XP-Win 8 os's and v2.0 branch  is for win 10

you want the latest firmware for whichever branch you are using as it fixes security issues and firmware bugs

you are correct that your firmware is now at the latest v2.0 build and since you are on win 10 you do not want to install the v1.2 build unless you plan on using a previous OS

End of Support/Life Dates

I'm looking for the End of Support/End of Life dates for the Elitedesk and Elitebook series of HP products. I do not include model numbers because it is a really long list.

Thank You

Re: End of Support/Life Dates

since the various models were released over a period of time the EOL dates will be diffrent for each sub model

i recomend you confine your search for EOL to only the models you actually require and then google each model to read the archived articles to determine the release month/year consumer models ar usually 1 year busineness systems 3 years

workstations 3 years with extended carepack support for 4 years (or more depending on exact model)

enter in the serials of each system at this link to determine warranty(s) status

https://support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

or you can pay someone to do this for you

Thank you for the information.

I have over 10,000 HP desktops and laptops ranging in age up to 10 years old. I was hoping to avoid spending the time I don't have to figure out which model is at end of support/life by conducting a search by individual device.

It made more sense to contact the Manufacturer who should surely have this information on the products it makes.

I appreciate the input!

you have to understand that this forum is user to user, while hp may check the forums from time to time the majority of support on this forum comes from users just like yourself

you might want to contact your hp sales rep if you manage a 10k network and put the question to him

I did finally get a response from the HP support chain.  They provided a link to an HP FTP site where I was provided a BIN file "TPM12_4.40.119.0_to_TPM20_5.62.3126.0.BIN" - which is exactly what I needed.

I politely suggested to the email chain (there were several HP contacts) that they put this file on the support pages - they're applicable for Z440, Z640 and Z840 workstations.  I'm sure I'm not the only person with this issue.

Cheers all.

Great - I'm glad you got the file. I also got my response from level 2 support today and was given an FTP site as well - since it's password protected I wouldn't post it here.

In my case I got/needed:

TPM12_4.43.257.0_to_TPM20_5.80.2910.2 since I had the TPM patch from the recent Infineon issue. The zip file also had TPM12_4.40.119.0_to_TPM20_5.51.2098.0.

Now at TPM 2.0

I'll also recommend they post this under drivers or a help article - I was really surprised it wasn't.

Would you be so kind as to gebnerate a SHA hash from the TPM12_4.43.257.0_to_TPM20_5.80.2910.2.BIN / TPM12_4.40.119.0_to_TPM20_5.62.3126.0.BIN file provided to you by HP?

Re: HP z840 workstation TPM upgrade

I have an Elitebook Folio 1040 G2 with SLB9660 TPM.

HP only provides a 4.43.257.0 firmware updater for it (TPM 1.2 to 1.2), so I installed that first.

I then acquired TPM12_4.43.257.0_to_TPM20_5.80.2910.2.BIN from Super Micro's server and tried to use TPMConfig64.exe (from HP's SP81900 package) to flash it. The GUI just said that the TPM wasn't compatible.

So I guess  Super Micro's TPM12_4.43.257.0_to_TPM20_5.80.2910.2.BIN  is different to the TPM12_4.43.257.0_to_TPM20_5.80.2910.2.BIN HP is handing out. Or did you guys get a different TPMConfig64.exe? Or maybe it's something to do with the EliteBook.

Super Micro's file:

Name: TPM12_4.43.257.0_to_TPM20_5.80.2910.2.BIN
Size: 381545 bytes

24 Bay SAS expander card (PN: 468406-B21) compatibility questions.

No idea where to post this...
BLUF: Will the PERC H200 see drives attached to a HP 24 Bay SAS expander card (PN: 468406-B21)?
Will the motherboard work with a HP SA-P410 or SA-P410i Controller (known to work with the expander)?
Can a breakout cable be used as a "reverse" breakout cable to connect the expander card to the ROMB?

Forgive the stupid questions. I've never build a physical raid with anything but the ROMB.
Backstory: As a pet project I've been putting together some "old" stuff. I currently have the following up and running:

S5000PSL (ROMB) - no chassis and none of the accessories from the original purchase.
Dual Xeon L5410 (SLAP4)
24GB RAM
ATI HD5750
600 watt desktop PSU
NO CASE

In addition I have:
about 30 HDDs
HP 24 Bay SAS Expander Card (PN: 468406-B21) - including 4 mini sas cables
6 breakout cables

What's the order of driver installation for a z600?

Hi,

I've just bought a z600 machine. I'm having trouble figuring out the order of driver installation for the machine. I want to set it up properly and not have to reinstall any drivers that I've missed along the way later.

It's a z600

2x Intel Xeon x5650 @ 2.67GHz

24 GB ddr3 RAM

Quadro 4000

I plan to install windows 7 on it.

What drivers and in what order should I be installing for this system?  If I decide to install Windows 10 on it, should I be doing anything different?

Thank you very much for any help.

Kind regards,

J

there is no offical HP driver install order for windows 7,

however as a general rule,install

chipset drivers first

then network drivers

then the intel RST disk driver package,

then the video driver,

all other drivers can be installed in any order

HP Slimline case

Looking for a bit of assistance regarding "low-profile" power supplies that fit an HP Slimline 450-a120 desktop case, which appears to be no more than a 'low-profile' case that can accommodate a mini-ITX motherboard..

Yes, I am aware that the original power supply for the 450-a120 is/was a 19 volt 3.33A 'external' power supply (similar to that used by an HP laptop), but since the origiinal motherboard is now "toast", my current intent is to "re-purpose" this small case for a min-ITX motherboard that is intended to record video from three security cameras under a Linux OS.

So, all I really need is to know what is the proper 'form factor' the power supply must be to properly fit this small case.

I see that in the case 'floor', that there are provisions to accommodate a min-ITX motherboard, as well as a location and provision for a 'discrete', "low-profile" power supply - which is what I inted to use once I determine what that SHOULD be.

Can anyone indicate to me what potential power supplies HP may have used for other HP desktop models that were also in a SFF case like this, so I can locate an adequate P/S?    OR ... possibly someone might know if there is an HP P/N for this case so I could research replacment power supplies?

Do you know if the Proliant server line ever used used the s5000psl motherboard?
