Re: EliteDesk 800 minis and TPM modules?

Hi:

If the PC has a TPM chip, there will be a Security Devices device manager category.

If you see the Security Devices category in the device manager, click on that and it should show you the TPM device listed there and most likely it will be version 1.2 or 2.0.

Oh, that was easy.  Unfortunately the G2s appear to have version 1.2, so that won't work for my purposes.  I was hoping to upgrade them to Windows 10 using Intune Autopilot.  But Autopilot requires TPM 2.0.  So I'm guessing that puts the G1s out too.

Thanks for the tip, Paul!

Hi. Thank you for the suggestion. I've detached the PSU, plugged in the power cord: fans are running slightly, LED is green. So it seems to be okay, isn't it?

is this a ver 1 or a ver 2 motherboard? v1 boards are sandy bridge only, although some v1 boards have been able to run a single v2 cpu most have some issues doing so

if you are running a v2 cpu in a rev1 board, try replacing the cpu with a cheap test (sandy bridge) cpu

i've had 2 systems that failed with the same symptoms you describe, due to time restraints we never spent a lot of time on either board, but our rather limited testing indicated a board failure rather than a corrupted bios

not what you want to hear i'm sure

if you do look for a replacement board, don't overlook a bare bones system as sometimes the pricing on them works out better than just a board as you get many spare parts!!

and last, make sure you get a board with the later bootblock date 03/06/2013 which supports the v2 (ivy bridge) cpu's

board revision numbers 1.x to 1.03 are not indicative of a v1/v2 motherboard, however there was a rev 1.04 board that saw limited release late in the z820 life cycle which appears to always be a v2 board

Szia!
Jelenleg van egy HP Z600, mint számítógép x5670 CPU 24Gb RAM 2 HDD 1 SSD. Jelenleg Asus GTX 1080 turbót használok.
A tápegység 650

A kérdésem az lenne, hogy az új Nvidia 30xx sorozat most jelent meg.
Használhatok-e számítógépet az új 3070-es videokártyával?
Az adatok szerint 220 wattot fogyaszt. 1 db 8 tűs

Hi there.

Where upgrade MacOS Mojave I have installation stall. I think the ptoblem in SerialPort. Anyone know how to disable it?

In ProDesk 800 it's located in Advanced > Port Options > Serial Port A.

Early BIOS, have not option yet.

Hi:

I believe the serial port is part of the Intel AMT system, so the only suggestion I can offer, would be to see if disabling AMT in the BIOS also disables the serial port.

See the service manual at the link below, chapter 5, page 68 for the location of this setting.

I noticed that the HP part number on your ram modules (664693-001) is different to that used in the link I posted (712384-081). As you will see below, the memory specifications do differ substantially.

664693-001

I'm guessing the Z420 is just a bit fussy regarding which brand or type of LRDIMM modules will work. It would also appear that 32GB RDIMMS also seem to work in the Z420 and Z620 systems as per this post. Unfortunately, Zack4485 didn't state the part number of the memory modules he's using.

HP XW6400 Workstation Upgrade

Hi Team,

I'm using "HP XW6400 Workstation" the PC is very slow and I thought of upgrading it by increasing "RAM" as it is a old system I'm unable to find the similar "RAM" "M395T2953CZ - CE60" "PC2 - 5300F - 555 - 11" but when I check with in the market they told me that we'll give you the "RAM" 2GB - 5300 which has the speed of 667Mhz. If I add that will my system support it? I have a plan of adding 2GB of RAM in 2 Slots and as of not I have 1GB of RAM * 2. So in total it will be 6GB of RAM. Please do help me if I purchase  2GB of 5300 RAM will it support to my "HP XW6400 Workstation".

Also, my "Power Supply" is not working and previously I was using 650V supply. Please help me on the above 2 issues how do I upgrade.

Regards,

Srikanth S V

Z440 memory upgrade

Z440 came with 2 x Samsung 8GB modules, p/n M393A1G40EB1-CPB3Q

I want to add a pair of 16GB modules, p/n shows as Samsung M471A2K43BB1-CPB from HP's own docs. Is this the correct module for the Z440? Of course, the 16GB modules are twice as tall as the 8GB ones.  Will I need the cooling shroud if I am just using a total of 4 slots?

Lots of ways to make mistakes in ordering memory...

SM Bus Controller missing - Win 8.1 - HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF

Hello

I have a new to me HP ProDesk 600 G1 Base Model Small Form Factor PC that has an Intel Core i5-4590 CPU

I've installed an SSD as the system drive with a fresh install of Windows 8.1 64 bit.

In the device manager the "SM Bus Controller" has an error stating  "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" "There are no compatible drivers for this device." - Clicking search automatically for drivers results in none being available.

I downloaded the chipset driver from the HP website for my ProDesk "sp64085.exe" but this failed to install

Fail.jpg

I went to the Intel website for their chipset utility driver but they do not have a version for Windows 8.1

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29634/Chipset-INF-Utility?product=53

Does any one have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

make sure the Intel Management Engine Driver 11.7.0.1045 Rev.A has been installed

you may be trying to install the wrong chipset package, IE- the 32 bit package instead of the 64bit one or one for windows 8 instead of the one which includes support for 8.0/8.1

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-prodesk-600-g1-small-form-factor-pc/5387447

you want the 64bit version of chipset package 9.4.0.1027 Rev.A called sp64085.exe (which you have done in this case)

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64085.exe

once downloaded, go into device manager and REMOVE the existing SM device and also select remove associated driver files

now leave these windows open, and run the sp64085 file, it should run and complete without errors if so close all open windows and reboot

if you get a error when you run the sp64085 file note where it extracts to, cancel the install then go to the SM device and select update driver (have disk), and point it to the sp64085 \all folder it should pickup the needed inf's and install then

Z240 motherboard. Thinking of upgrading GPU to 1080/2070/2080

I can also use third party casing NZXT, cooler master just in case if it does not fit in to z240 chassis.

the answer to both questions is "NO"

you can not use a 1080 much less a 2070/2080  in a z240 if you have a system fully loaded with ram/drives high end cpu

the 1080 / 2070 might work on a bare bone system (one ssd 2 sticks ram, low power cpu)  as it's around 190 watts, but it again it will push the system over its limit power wise

you can not easily transplant the z240's custom motherboard into a ATX style case as it's mounting holes and power supply are not ATX standard

best course is to use a adapter and install a normal ATX power supply

Good day. We gave the server to repair hp proliant dl380p gen8 and after diagnostics we were told that we needed to change the motherboard. When the server was brought back, the motherboard remained old, nothing was changed for us. How can you find out the serial number or revision of an old motherboard that was installed earlier in order to compare it with the one that was brought to us
