hi iedjie,

 

if you use the pc as a professional tool then maybe I'd play it safe and go AHCI.

I'm using mine to train CAD but don't use it for any production work so my risk is limited.

 

the pc's been running very smoothly on the NVMe disk but for lack of comparable experience

I couldn't tell whether there's actually a big difference to a conventional drive. benchmark are

also not always telling the truth but in case you want to base your decision on those here the numbers for the 

NVMe system drive (400GB intel) and an somewhat older 500GB AHCI drive (samsung 840EVO

updated to latest firmware due to some performance degradation in the former PC).

OS is W10 pro.
