Good information ... you may discover an easier way of updating the bootblock 
Word of caution though. The Failsafe Boot Block code (crisis recovery) is in the boot block range (FF0000 - FFFFF). So a failed flash of the boot block will BRICK the motherboard. Not for the faint at heart.
