Synaptics touchpad driver is forced upon Windows 10 desktop by Windows Update

I use HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF pc's with Windows 10 Pro and wonder why the Synaptics touchpad driver gets installed by Windows Update, even though this is a HP desktop with only ordinary keyboard and mouse? Never experienced this on any other desktop. When a P/S2 mouse is connected I even get a Synaptics icon in the notification area. Problem is that it can´t be disabled.

This Synaptics driver also interferes with the mouse setting in the control panel. When I open Mouse in the control Panel i get a question if i want install a better touchpad driver or if want to uninstall the one i have. If uninstall  the Synaptics driver it always get reinstalled at next reboot.

I contacted HP support and after a long explanation about what the problem was, they descided that this was a Microsoft problem and that I needed to contact their support. I did this and after long talk with an agent I was going to be connected to a specialist, but then I was disconnected during the transfer. At this stage I had to make the call again and go through the same procedure... but I didn´t. I turn to this forum instead and see if someone else have the same problem and has found a solution.

I get the same result both on computers with factory installed Windows 10 as well as with a clean Windows 10 installation made by Microsoft installation media.

Does anyone have a clue about what´s going on?
