Here's a pic of my current set-up;

Set-up.jpg

I'm using a pair of Behringer Truth B2031A's as my main reference monitors. They're active bi-amp monitors (250W each) with 8" bass drivers. Listened to loads of others, (including some at 4 times the price), but still prefer the overall tone and depth of sound of the Behringers. I also have a Cambridge Audio A5 amp connected to the Tascam US-1641 monitor outs which drive a set of Mission 737's and vintage Tannoy Mercury speakers for an alternative audio reference. My monitor is a Samsung 34" ultrawide (21:9 ratio) curved display running at 3440 x 1440 resolution. There's also the obvious Korg Trident Extreme sitting in front mainly used for MIDI input but the audio outs are plugged into the Tascam for recording. Partly obscured in the background is my SpacePilot 3D mouse which I use all the time with SolidWorks, (and it's also great fun to use in Google Earth!). The speaker stands and computer keyboard stand were made by myself so I could make the computer keyboard float above the Korg.

The 2.5"/3.5" drive enclosure I mentioned is actually installed in the bay below my DVD drive, (2.5" and 3.5" drives are present);

ICY Dock Fitted.jpg

I've never used the remote desktop app in windows but I have in the past used the remote assistance app many times to fix my friends computers who live 150 miles away.  Very handy and saves a ton of time. (You know exactly what I mean after you spend 3 nights on the phone trying to explain to a friend or relative how to resolve a simple computer problem). I have also used vnc quite a bit in the past when I built a headless file server and connected it to my home network, (along with all the kids computers) . You can have multiple sessions running at once giving you a real time view (and control) of all the desktops simultaneously. I don't think vnc talks up much resource to run either.

Talking about PassMark, tonight's score is . . . .

Drum roll . . . .

PassMark (4).JPG

Ran it again straight away and got 4723?

Passmark System Rating= 4718 / CPU= 19561 / 2D= 524 / 3D = 0? / Mem =2210 / Disk = 8218

Bit of a  jump in memory speed and the M.2 is  creeping up? I don't know why but the 3D tests run absolutely fine one day then not the next. Sometimes the DirectX 9 complex test goes to a black window which I need to close otherwise the testing just hangs at that point. The DirectX 10 and 11 tests run fine? Might try a different graphics driver, (currently using 361.91).

Managed to download a 14 day trial version of bunkspeed, (bought over by Dasault Systems and changed to SolidWorks Visualize), which I plan to test the K4200 and Tesla cards this week. It has the option to select between CPU and GPU rendering so should be interesting to see if the Tesla is doing much.

Checked my BIOS version and it's 3.88;

BIOS.JPG

I'm sure I upgraded the BIOS myself about 5 months ago, (just after I bought the Z620 and prior to fitting the CPU riser and 2670's), and if I remember correctly, it was a breeze to do. I downloaded the Windows version and ran the app. After a reboot, all done! Simple.

After much deep thought and deliberation, (about 10 minutes actually), I have decided to take the plunge and give the UEFI Windows install a go. Took me a whole day, but I eventually managed to locate and purchase a boxed full retail version, (unused with the cling film still on the box), of Windows 7 Professional. Definitely not an OEM version and has both 32bit and 64bit DVD's. I've printed off the guide from the link you posted and reading the fine detail now. I'll remove all my additional hardware first bar the CPU's, memory and K4200 and check the prerequesites first. I also have a USB DVD reader/writer handy just in case. Hopefully, the Windows 7 will arrive before the weekend.

I'll let you know how I get on with the 3D render testing.

Re: HP Device Manager 4.7 SP4 attempting to push and updated agent to HP t610 client and us a ThinPr

For WES7E unit, please make sure the default agent on your Thin Client is at least 4.7 SP3 before using HTTPS protocol to do tasks. If it is an old agent, please update it with etiher FTP or sharefolder. After that you should be able to use HTTPS protocol to do the tasks.

For ThinPro 5, currently we only support cached deployment with HTTPS protocol. We already had plan to provide full image support for ThinPro 5, please stay tune for that.

Are you talking about the CE unit?

Whenever you're using HPDM to send task, please make sure to update DM Agent on the Thin Client first - There is a default template named - Update Agent on your DM Console.

Also, if you goes to HELP button from DM Console, you will see the admin guide and white paper which might help you get better understanding of HP Device Manager

is this a single unit failure? or it happend on some or all of your tested unit?

Can you get the agent.log when the things happen?

What's the default DM Agent version on your t610 unit?

The operating system you mentioned - is that from HP? just to confirm as we called it WES7E.

Hi, Soccer_Tan

Good day to you

It is not able detected from the BIOS, so that I am not able to perform the Win10 OS installation.

What I am troubleshooting now, is installed Win10 at another SSD (Kingston HyperX 480GB), booting it up normally

Once I plug it the PCIe adapter (without the Sandisk A110 installed), the Win10 can booting up.

However, if I installed the Sandisk A110 at Asus Hyper M.2x4 adapter, the Win10 WON'T booting up, it stay at "Press [CTRL +P] to enter MEBx Setup Menu.

Best regards

It happens on all T610's I've tried. in total we have 100+ units and with the first 10 I tested it happened. All of these are now unmanagable, since I don't have a way to reinstall the client and they lost connection to the Device Manager since the HPDM Agent service is not present any more.

Do you have a full install package of the latest agent?

Old agent version is 4.6.3660.21244 and 4.5.3660.18367

It's indeed WES7E, with image version 6.1.7601.252 (Dutch).

Is there any version of ThinPro 64 bit for any version of HP Thin Clients? My question is because Chrome has discontinued its support to 32-bit systems.

Is it possible to get the image directly, or the only way is to install 5.2 and then update it to 6.1?

With the ThinUpdate Tool you can create a USB-Stick to flash a unit independent of it's prior version. Other options would be with the ThinPro integrated HP Easy Update, HP Device Manager, etc.

Replicating BIOS with Admin password

$

Hi there,

I'm wanting to set-up the BIOS on a group of machines with the same admin password by setting the BIOS on one machine, and then replicating that one on the other, but I can't seem to do it with these new models (I have to set the password separatety on each machine - takes ages!).

In short, can the Security Settings be saved as well, or do they have to be set individually?

Any advice on how I can do this?

Many thanks.

Hi,

I've got the same problem. It fails over and over again with the database.

Even when i try to upgrade 4.7 to 4.7SP4 it fails with the same database error.

But after the failed installation, i cannot work with the HPDM anymore. Had to restore a snapshot to make it work.

A HPDM service process fails to start.

I run Server 2012R2 on a VMWare platform.

I have a bunch of users, running Thin Pro 5.2 on a T620, reporting sessions disconnect on a random basis. the total no. of users reoprting this issue is 5 out of 100. They are all using different apps and it happens at different times for them.  Is this a real problem or something network related. What can be improved to have minimal instances of sessions disconnect.

t520 - How to disable the splash "hp" screen when booting up...

$

Hello,

We just purchased a few HP t520s to complement a lab we have of t510s.  The t510s are working great.  The t520s are almost there.  i just need to hide one pesky splash screen.  When the t520 is booting and gets to the GUI, but before the network is connected, it shows a splash screen telling me that its "waitting for the network".  Unfortunately that splash screen also has a button labeled "Network Settings".  That button, that bad boy is what I want to disable remove or hide.  I don't care if the splash screen comes up or not, but giving the users access to the network settings and the host name and all sorts of settings is an accident waitting to happen.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get rid of that button?  I would really appreciate any clues, ideas, comments or words of wisdom on this subject.

Thank you all!

René

You are welcome, .

I would definitely leave it the way that it is now.  However, I would try to add the memory up to 16 GB to see what happens.  It will definitely make a big difference.  Memory is one component that you can't to much of.  The more that you have the better the computer will run.
