For those who upgraded to Windows 10, will you recommend to upgrade from Windows7 or just stay on this OS for HP Z400?

u know i love some one awaser quistions with out ton links,
so i will i currenty have hp z800 and it is much like a server, there is no board on markert that u build that can eqaul it, why price is still so high on it,
as to the quistion, i have run hp z800 loaded with harddrives two 6 core cpu's
and fx 5800 for years, on 800 watt power supply and i do meen this is loaded
i use help microsoft make paches, in any case, yes this can run high end card,
now if u want run two, u got probem, or not, i just got a 1200 watt power supply for it for 100,00
used grated but dose work, and will have power i need to upgrade the cpu's and run two fx 5800
one may ask why dont u go for a 8 gig card well more to a card then video, one can use it to process information,
i can run a 2ed 5800 or a telsa card, now people out there say these cards wont work unless programs are coded to run on them this no longer the case, the drives now take care this, also as this is old thread want add hp has made a new bios update for this, i would strongly sujest to flash the bios, it will give the pc the abuilts that it should have in past just software never supported it, this pc and z820 is still one the best workstations used
and they are worth upgradeing and worth the time and effort to upgade these, u never find a more sold pc,
as for the drivers i wish hp would update them, and add software support needed for todays market,
some the old hp servers found on ebay for 100,00 people dump, but put money in them u can in all sence of words make them again state of the art, i got ml 350 g6 all says dont support video, so i got nvida plex and put two telsa cards in it, and it is now a supper computer when comes to cruching numbers,
the newest at 200k strip at this price shure they beat it but time u get done u have 500k in all of it,
hp has some best workstations and servers, throw i do hate how they lock down there drivers for there servers,
these should be free, servers that be used even in home is now impossable becuase the drivers now lock,
and this dont make sence for out dated servers, HP please alow access to the older servers drives once again,
please alow us use the out dated servers and bring new life to them, as most of us cant afoud to buy new

you are confusing HP Consumer/workstations/Printers company, with HPE (enterprise) a diffrent company
HP split into two seperate companys some time ago, and HP has no control over HPE
it is HP "Enterprise" company that has the driver restrictions on downloads
HP, the "non enterprise" company has no such restrictions, and posting here about HPE policies will do very little

why not hp demain microosft stop hacking our computers
i been in computers all my life, servers in last 20 years, for time microsoft gave me free software, all of it all way to 2016 i got 1000's of keys, microsoft found i had abuilty to find probems with out learning the software, so to find probem in office i did not need know how access work, my mind works very diffrent with add, about 2 years ago i found micosoft software all has same probem, point for point dont care what u install it on, dont care where u go, in any demo home u find this probem this probem cause all kinds of probems inclueding causeing drivers and updates to crash, microsoft wanted know what this was told them i wanted paid so they started hijacking accounts, i am a server sercurty spichlelest throw i cant spell well do add, i find things, and i found that microsoft was takeing passwords user accounts encription certifics, off the domain, and they doing it throw a windows 7 workstation, one can say well was hacker well no i captuter there https certifics and ip address and with this logs of policys they was changeing,many people know this going on, but this most scary part i was on twiter told microsoft i just made back up and viruse program found virus in hidden partion now i was looking at the drive with in mins throws files started to disapear, other facks is hidden ftp working on all computers under system32
it is called ftp click it it will start a concle waiting for input, but who has access to this, all microsoft software includeing servers has now same probem, this was never the case untill they put in side by side but no one knows what this is for, microsoft says for compatablity, but ack a running vr computer, when this was install on the servers the very thing that was causeing all the probems was to copy to servers, so microsoft had much to gian to target me to get this information would enhance any one place there, but that i found out microsoft was del programs files and data, things did not belong to them but to me alone, so i put test on each pc i put tex file with 50 microsoft ip address something no hacker would ever care about, few days latter each tex file was del file remand informaton was del,
we have huge probem quistion is who backing microsoft in doing this, is hp backing them well call to hp talking to a hp manager acuse me of blackmale, what for? for giveing them information to stop microsoft or did they know about it and are benfiting from it, that data being taken is worth billlions and is worth more then all usa makes, but in all this microsoft can not fix a probem that pleg microsoft sence xp, i warn microsoft this probem when xp first came out no one lissen, they clame windows 7 8 was new no was built off xp or this probem would of ended, dose hp codone hacking even if from microsoft ? i realy like know if i gave hp proof this was going on what hp do, a) nothing at all b)stop installing microsoft on there computers, c) why would they care it is not there computers or is it them who know this going on use apple, and u must ask why, big brother and big busness is waching us but as they do so i am watching them every change microsoft dose i find it, is nothing microsoft can do that i cant discover, and in 8 of servers ileagle conneted to my networks. i scan them all was microsoft all had mac address hidden, all running linux all microsoft servers that is responsable for takeing information is linux, why, ? and what did we miss, will microsoft was fighting open sorce code they was putting it out, so they can now to hack linux computers, i run firewall that scanes for commands should not be run, i found microsoft is useing dns to get into our system, the firewall i useing has over 22k entrys all them just microsoft, they all montor whats going in and out, and microsoft has disable this firewall more 20 times,
we must not be ok with this, becuase we do nothing wrong dose not give any busness the rights to access any information on our computers, becuase if they have access to it so dose all hackers, and i have found hacking tools left on my network tools to collect network passwords, tools i would never use or down load, was it a plant or was microsoft useing the tools to gather information on my network, this must end, and if ibm hp and other top busness dont say we will not permit software with back doors to be sold they as much part of the probem as them who is writeing the code, so where dose hp stand, will they stop this or dont give a crap, so lets find out, or is hp useing the same tools to access our computers as well, ? and is very fair quistion to ask is it not,
we should not alow our kids our selfs be spyed on by no one, they put our kids and our selfs at risk,

crash is network related, (Crash Address : ntoskrnl.exe) please look at the windows log files (application and system)
1.To view the Windows Setup event logs. Start the Event Viewer, expand the Windows Logs node, and then click System.
2.run an SFC scan on Windows 10:
- Go to Start > type cmd > right-click Command Prompt > select Run as Administrator.
- Now, type the sfc /scannow
- Wait for the scanning process to complete and then restart your computer
- All corrupted files will be replaced on reboot
Reinstall ALL the network related drivers for your motherboard
remove any antivirus package (while testing/troubleshooting)
uninstall any uneeded 3rd party software
you can also backup your data files and do a windows full restore (only if system came with win 10)
- Navigate to Settings. ...
- Select "Update & security"
- Click Recovery in the left pane. ...
- Click Get started under Reset this PC.
- Click "Remove everything," (which is why we manually backed up the files)
if you have a virus/malware and try to keep the files, you may still have the virus problem. manually copying them breaks the chain, and insures the reinstall is problem free

Regardless of whether you use W7Pro64 or W10Pro64 you should run it off a SSD. The Z400 Z600 Z800 are all SATA generation II technology (very fast, and for practical purposes virtually as fast as SATA generation III technology). My recommendation is that you buy two used Intel 320 series SSDs from eBay. These are SATA gen II drives, and these let you use the excellent free Intel Toolbox software for SSD management.
You can load W7 on one and W10 on the other. Then from BIOS you can choose your boot drive and easily switch between the two. The 300GB size is reasonable in price, and the 600GB is not much more, so you can see the difference when you are choosing your boot drive in BIOS. If you happen to get a version with old firmware the Intel Toolbox software can upgrade it to the latest for you.
Personally I'm liking W10Pro64 more and more, and we use W7Pro64 in our work environment still so day in and day out I get to see and feel the differences.... W10 is faster and a more sophisticated OS, as you would expect, but W7Pro64 still is my favorite.

While I don't doubt the sincerity of what you believe is happening to your PCs and to others, I don't accept that MS is actually stealing user accounts, including their passwords and credentials. MS is a multi-billion dollar worldwide corporation, and while they do track user activity (in the form of "telemetry") they have repeatedly pointed out that this collection includes no personal information -- including the stuff you claim they are stealing.
Folks masquerading as MS Support present the serious problems and it can be difficult to spot them as fakes, especially if they contact you directly. More likely, it is these folks you have been dealing with.
Unfortunately, we can do nothing about MS fake support problems, as we have no influence on those.
We also, on this forum, have no influence on the conduct of MS, regarding what information they collect and what they do with that.
So, if you have complaints about MS Support, or suggestions for them -- your only recourse is to contact MS yourself. We can not do that for you.

I can see what you're saying but HP would surely have several or dozens of these thin clients activating every day, I don't think me getting 5 replacement units over a month period would affect the MS activation too much.
An update to where I'm at:
We had another t620 thin client come back to our office with a bluescreen issue.
We have re-imaged it with the 14WWFTHM601_AB4_033018.ibr image and this worked! It activated fine.
HOWEVER there are differences – this retail thin client’s model number is 14WWFTCM602 and the ones that don’t work (the spares) are all 14WWFTCM603.
The spare part number for the working one is 768251-001.
The spare part number for the non-working ones is 768245-001.
Perhaps these different model spare parts that have been sent to me do not have the correct BIOS OEM key, or the key HP provided me to enter again for activation does not apply to these models....
I have sent this info to HP, still waiting on it to be escalated and sorted out.

Hello to all,
i have actually the same Problem.
After pushing the firmware A0.45 the video card disappeared.
Now i have a black display.
I removed the CMOS Battery and switch the jumper one pin to the right sight for a while.
After that, the System didn´t come back, i have to click F1 to skip some questions, but i dont know what the question is.
My Display is black. I can only connect via RDP. I can´t see Bios or else. I have installed the Application "BIOS Configuration Utility", over that i also set the bios values to default, but nothing helps.
What can i do ?

again, the ms activation servers use checks to try to stop illeagal activations and several of those are the number of activations made from the same hardware id's and also the frequency of activation attempts made within a set time frame
several years ago we had a unstable white box win 7 using a legit oem key that after 8 OS reloads/activations within 48 hours refused to activate anymore calling MS we were told that due to the number of activations that key was blocked
you may be having this same issue i recomend a call to ms to see if this is so

The X58 chipset supports 800, 1066, and 1333 RAM. The HP z400 product specification reads: "Only unbuffered DDR3 DIMMs are supported. " And they mean ECC unbuffered. And see:

Lower end LGA1366 CPU's use 1066 but the W3690 supports 1333. Apparently the z400 doesn't support registered RAM. Registered is typical for dual processor systems, as it adds a parity check that synchonizes the threads between the two processors.
It appears that the maximum memory capacity for a 6-slot z400 system will be 6X 4GB. The dual proecssor z600 however appears to support 8GB DIMMs. This is the case with the contemporary Dell Precisons. I had a dual CPU T5500 (2X X5680) with 6X 8GB but the T3500 (X5687) was limited to 6X 4GB.
I don't know if you have decided on all your upgrades, but consider adding a PCIe RAID controller (such as LSI 9240) to upgrade to an SATAIII disk sub system- and possibly a controller having an eSATa port to run an external backup drive. Ordinary mechanical HD's do not saturate SATAII but SATAIII will provide the full benefit of SSD's. Also, consider the performance enhancement of a PCIe USB 3.0 card.
