Hello,
I wanted to ask about an issue I have with my HP Elitebook 840 G4 running Windows 10 (about a year old). I realized about 1 month ago that I had trouble with my laptop downloading files from the internet using Wifi (I realized this the first time after a factory reset and am not sure whether the problem had already been present before). Downloads of medium to large files (e.g. 50 MB) using Wifi would go very sluggish and would most of the time come to a complete halt. This was independent of the network (I tried it at multiple networks, with different laptops, only my HP would show problems) or the used browser. With an Ethernet cable there aren’t any problems downloading. I contacted the HP customer service, which, after making sure that my software (wifi drivers etc.) was up to date, decided to send me a new wifi module, that I could replace myself. Replacement of the Wifi module however didn’t solve or improve the issue. Out of frustration I installed a Linux dual-boot and when running Linux I don’t have any issues downloading files via Wifi, which I guess rules out the hardware defect originally suggested by the HP customer service. My question is whether no other users have reported this issue? Since then I have again reset my laptop to factory setting to make sure that no new software is causing the problem but the issue persists. I actually tried the same model in a store connected to the store’s Wifi and their laptop also seemed to have the same trouble when downloading a test file from the internet. Therefore I would be quite surprised if no other people have reported similar issues… I have pretty much given up hope by now but would of course be thankful for any helpful advice.
Thank you very much!
