It continued with install after doing drivers but would not let install Win still. In bios I changed storage from what I think was achi+raid to ide. I then deleted old raid partitions and now seems to be loading. I have two 500gb ssd drives and would like to do a raid config eventually in case one crashed I would have backup. Any advice?
Re: Windows 7 install
Re: Windows 7 install
RAID + AHCI is the default storage controller setting, and I would advise against changing that setting since it provides the best drive performance.
Unfortunately, I don't have any advise for you other than if you have the setting on IDE and have W7 installed, read the info at the link below for how to change the setting from IDE back to RAID + AHCI.

Re: Only able to connect two PCIe devices on Z800
Hello, thanks for the advice and sorry for the late reply. I tried all of your recommendations and unfortunately none of them worked. I still get the same freezing on windows startup. I removed the NVMe SSD that was installed via PCIe adaptor and installed a regular 2.5 SSD via the sata cable and did a fresh install of Windows and yet the PC still freezes on startup if the capture card is installed. I’ve tried multiple variations of PCIe slots and I know it’s not the capture card because I actually swapped my card into my sons pc and it worked fine in his pc but his capture card is doing the same thing in my pc that mine was doing. So at this point I’m at a loss as to what to try next. Thanks for the help though I appreciate it.
Re: Only able to connect two PCIe devices on Z800
actually YOU HAVE CONFIRMED IT"S THE CAPTURE CARD................................
since the card works in another PC but not the z800 and the z800 works normally without the card, that's a sure sign that the z800 and the capture card don't play nice together
either replace the card with another make or replace the z800 your choice..........................
Re: Desktop Does not recognize ANY PCIe cards - HP ProDesk 600 G2 Win 7 pro x64
set bios to defaults, leave pcie slot settings as is (do not change)
make sure IDE/RAID-AHCI is set for ‘Legacy Support Enable (necessary for HD support on non UEFI config)
and confirm Secure Boot Disable’ if using Windows 7 is enabled (required for legacy BIOS install)
you can not install windows to a "GPT" formatted drive, and the drive must be under 2Gig due to hardware and bios restrictions of a legacy system
you can only use a GPT disk, or a disk larger than 2Gig as a non booting DATA drive
you must have a UEFI enabled bios with legacy support enabled, and win 8 or later to install a bootable disk greater than 2Gig
secure boot is optional under UEFI win 8/10
Re: HP Z4 G4 POST Error 912 after cpu upgrade
I just want to elaborate on this issue as I had the same error code after upgrading to the W-2265 CPU.
After an hour chat and combing over the spec sheets, completely frustrated that there was no mention of a required part. It donned on me to check the TDP numbers and realizing the only thing that came close was the i9 at 168W did I think to look for that. Well, on page 33 of QuickSpecs is the one and only mention of a 92 mm x 92 mm x 25 mm, 6-wire, PWM (includes 6-to-5pin cable adapter). No order codes, no asterisks, nada but this one line.
I ran through partsurfer and after trying my serial, product number and finally hunting down an i9 product code, I was no where closer to finding a **bleeping** product code. They use the same standard fan on the line item for the i9 as everything else.
However, if you search for the adapter there are sites that sell the HP HP Computer CPU Fan 6 Pin Male to 5 Pin Female Cable Fan Conn Adapter and mention the Z440 uses this same adapter as well as the Z4. So I've ordered the adapter, hit up ebay for the heatsink from an old Z440 and I'm frankensteining this together until HP get's this figured out.
Hopefully this helps someone else out trying to upgrade their Z4 system to these second generation CPU's. It's faster and I'm quite happy with it even with the annoying bios halt at boot.
Re: HP Z4 G4 POST Error 912 after cpu upgrade
I ordered this part L29299-001 - SPS-COOLING SOLUTION -HIPWR -CPU Z4 G4 and already installed the new heatsink and everything works fine. It came with an adapter cable which i installed between the fan and the motherboard connector. Construction wise is a bigger heatsink and a different fan, probably with a higher airflow output.
Re: HP Z4 G4 POST Error 912 after cpu upgrade
I was able to find that too, I just had to enter the right product code to bring up a system with a 12 core CPU. Unfortunately it's out of stock for me, and they're asking ~$150 anyways. So I'm going to use the Z440 fan and the 6 to 5 pin adapter I found online and cross my fingers it works. I'm going to stick with the stock heatsink unless the 440 fits. I love HP, but when it comes to these upgrades they really over charge for what are essentially off the shelf parts.

Certificate of Volatility Request
Hello,
I am looking to see if the following product contains any volatile and/or non-volatile memory. I additionally would require certificates/letters of volatility for it.

Re: Deploy cached image for Thinpro via HPDM Not enough memory
That did it. Thanks for your help.
HP Z800 Wokstation Performs very poor.
I have been reading about the complaints reported to HP regarding the HP Z800 Workstation Performance going back many years. HP should be ashamed of themselves for designing and manufacturing a piece of crap like this! Even with the latest bios and other firmware updates or lack thereof, the performance is still pitiful! I strongly believe, it is the firmware causing all these slow performance problems and HP needs to release the latest and the greatest firmware updates to fix these problems. This machine should technically be flying! and it is not! PITIFUL!

I have read that i can install 3 Geforce 1080 ti, but is this on the power pin adapters?

Re: i need help getting the driver to my pci serial port and pci simple communications controller
Hi:
You need this driver, which will install both devices...
Re: HP 820 Maximum Watt for geforce 2080 ?
As per the HP Z820 Maintenance and Service Guide, the Z820 will support up to 2x 300W GPU's, or 3x 225W GPU's, with the 1125W/110v [1250W/240v] PSU installed.
Please bear in mind;
GTX 1080 Ti FE = 250W
GTX 2080 FE = 225W
GTX 2080 (Reference Design) = 215W
Please also view this information; http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03276836
You will need the adpter cables as shown below. (6-pin female to dual 8-pin male auxilliary power cables). HP make their own version of these cables, but these are quite expensive and are difficult to source online.
Just make sure you buy good quality cables, preferably a known good brand.
Z820 motherboard installation
Hi.
I found a new Z820 motherboard. Not too bad to get the old one out but when I Put the new one in, the holes line up, I slide it to the side to lock it in but the cutouts at the back are a different height. The board is sitting high. I tried to put the old board back in. Same thing. Sooooo. There must be some kind of trick? When I tilt the board up I can slide it in but the other stand offs are not lined up. What’s the trick? Does the back cutout have to come off?
Re: Z820 motherboard installation
sounds like you are not inserting the back metal standoff(s) into the slot.
all of the metal standoffs must drop into the matching cutout before you slide the motherboard back and then install the cpu's/heatsink(s)
Re: i need help getting the driver to my pci serial port and pci simple communications controller
the intel "AMT" should be disabled for non domain users as it's a known security risk and serves no purpose for home/non domain users
go into the security section of the bios and disable "AMT" this also will remove the need for the two pci devices
(virt ser port com3 and the AMT device itself)
