I suggest that you follow steps listed in HP Document: 'Z Series Workstation - Detecting and Fixing a Hard Drive Failure in the RAID Controller Utility' in URL: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04474148#N10829 There you can find instructions how to enter each type of RAID controller status (Intel RST, LSI 2308 as well as LSI 9260-8i - these are the major RAID controllers usually associated with HP Z820 workstation, depending on the particular configuration that you have ordered). Note that in most cases described in that document, you need to enter the RAID controller setup during computer startup stages, by pressing CTRL+I (for Intel RST) or CTRL+C (for LSI 2308) or CTRL+H (for LSI 9260-8i). The setup uses the RAID controller firmware and does not require you to install complex software inside Windows, because it is done outside the Operating System before Windows starts booting. Find more details in 'HP Z220 SFF, Z220 CMT, Z420, Z620, and Z820 Workstations Maintenance and Service Guide' in URL: http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c04205252-1.pdf There, in Appendix B: Configuring RAID devices (pp. 161-171) all types of RAID controllers relevant to Z820 workstation are discussed.
