Hey Z440Roger,
Did you know that a HP Quadro M5000 is listed by HP as compatible with the Z440 but not with the M6000? Someone at HP is making judgements about what are compatible and not-compatible workstation/Quadro card combinations.
I too don't see why there should be a (technical) problem running either a Quadro M5000 or M6000 with my Z820 either. But neither card is considered compatible with the Z820 by HP, whatever "compatible" means. If I didn't care about HP's blessing, I could try a GTX TITAN X, which is a consumer version of the M6000 at about 25% of the cost of the Quadro M6000!
Or I can buy a PNY Quadro M6000 with a three year warranty instead of the HP branded Quadro M6000 which, when I called HP Product Support, told me the HP warranty on their M6000 wouldn't be honored if installed in a Z820 because the M6000 (or M5000) is not listed in the Z820 QuickSpecs as compatible.
