Greetings! The touchscreen on my PC has been unresponsive after coming back in the new year and I can't for the life of me figure it out. I don't use it super frequently, but I know it was working a couple weeks ago. I'm running Windows 10 but that hadn't been an issue until today. I'm unable to re-enable it as the "Pen and Touch" option is unavailable in the Control Panel.
Here's what I've tried so far in no particular order:
A) Used the Troubleshooting wizard for hardware devices to scan and fix changes. No luck. The HID touch screen does NOT appear in the HID list of the Device Manager.
B) Ensured that the touch screen service was running and starts automatically when the computer starts. It had previously been stopped and set to manual service only, so I assumed that was the problem, but no luck there either.
C) Scoured the HP website and web for solutions that largely suggested updating Windows 10 drivers for the device. However, I have been unable to find Windows 10 drivers for the touchscreen input and it seems odd that it only now stopped working since it had previously worked in Windows 10 just fine.
D) Windows update, scanned for hardware changes, restarted after every effort.
My sinking suspicion is that despite the previous functionality of the touchscreen within Windows 10, the obvious solution is a Windows 10 specific driver. However I have to conclude that since I couldn't find it for my model, it is as yet unavailable. Can anyone from HP confirm this? Can anyone provide a solution? Thank you!
