I'm a support person for a nonprofit that acquires refurb HP business-grade desktops coming off lease. When I rebuild them (Win10 Pro/64-bit) , I frequently have a "PCI Serial Port" error remaining in Device Manager even though I've installed the latest drivers for that model. Quite often I can't get rid of the error, and so I have to place a faulty machine into service.
What's the cause of this error, and how do I correct it? Is the solution a generic patch that I can apply to all HP desktops, or is it specific to each model? And why does HP allow it to occur so frequently?
Thanks.
