Win 7 won't let me install Network drivers. PITA, I can't get onto the internet. Had the issue last week and a tech guy discovered there were two IP addresses, one of which was bogus (after several hours of troubleshooting). He deleted the bogus IP address and I got on the internet.
Next day, same issue. I ultimately uninstalled the network drivers and Win re-installed them and was able to get on the net. Today, same thing. This time when I uninstalled and Win reinstalled the drivers no luck. After spending a ton of time I downloaded the latest HP network drivers and tried installing - no luck. Win siad I had to uninstall the current dirvers, which I did, but before I could do anything Win re-installed them.
After much searching on the net I found a Windows page that showed how to prevent Win from re-installing the drivers by changing the policy. Did that the uninstalled the network drivers. Win tried re-installing but rather than real drivers just showed a yellow icon. Tried to run the HP setup file and got an error message that the "existing" drivers had to be uninstalled!! (Checked on network connection for the adapter and it said there were no network adapters.)
Win 7 tried re-installing the drivers but returned an error that they couldn't be installed due to the policy restriction. I went back into "gptconfig.msc and changed the policy back to "Not configured", re-booted and still get the message that the "policy" is preventing installation of the network drivers. Just about to give this Z820 the boot.
I've tried everything I can think of to no avail.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I created a prior post with more detail but the HP forum kicked it back so had to start over - extremely frustrating. I have to say the Mac puts these PC's to shame - pathetic.)
