Apply Static IP Address to HP Thin Client Itself (Linux OS)

Subject line says it all.  Is there a way to apply a static address to the HP thin client onboard NIC so it will always boot up on the static address?  Not necessarily the T420 model but that is the unit my customer wants us to investigate.
