I honestly don't expect a problem. With my last and current card which is a 4GB EVGA GTX 960. All I did before hand. Uninstalled drivers/physx. Shut down pc. Install card. Boot back up and install drivers again. It worked perfectly fine.

 

I have no idea why it gave you trouble. I am also on a single monitor. It sounds like you are running more then one? If so. Maybe that was the reason why. 


No, the black screws are from the EVGA, so they worked fine with the grill screw holes. The silver ones are HP. 

 

Sounds good. Looking forward to your experience and no I only had 1 monitor. Maybe I was just making stupid newbie mistakes. Hopefully I can learn for the next time from others and their experience.
