I noticed the very same thing in a Z440 when i bought a Z Turbo 512GB G2 card.
I had the OS on a Z Turbo 256GB and removed the card and inserted the Z Turbo 512GB G2 card but my Z440 failed to install the OS as well despite the latest BIOS. I did put the old card back and moved the 512GB G2 card to another slot and did then start the computer, booting from the old card, and then i initialized and formatted the new G2 card in Windows.
After that i once again removed the old card and placed the G2 card in the correct slot. Now i could install Windows on the new G2 card. I am still puzzled since initializing/formatting the drive not should be required.
So, boot up the computer with the old OS drive and initialize and format the G2 card in Windows Disc Management.
