When Microsoft issued Windows 7 several years ago, they were aware of the need to enable XP-users to continue using software applications that are only compatible with XP and cannot be transferred to 7. Microsoft therefore enables users of Windows 7 Professional (not Home!) to install a freely downloadable Windows XP-Mode over Windows 7 Professional as a virtual operating system, fully integrable with the basic computer hardware, disks, USB etc. Read all about it in 'Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7' in this URL: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7 I personally am using the XP-Mode (32-bit) over Windows 7 Professional 64-bit installed in a 256GB HP SSD in my HP Z820 workstation at home, and also at work (XP-Mode over Windows 7 Enterprise) with applications that are no longer supported in Windows 7, 8 or 10. BTW, microsoft does not offer free XP-Mode for Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 but I have read several reports by users that try to bypass this limitation and move their XP-Mode from Windows 7 to the latest operating systems.
