Hi I have purchased a brand new (3 days old now) HP 15-ab128na with 6GB RAM and supposedly 2GB dedicated video RAM, AMD A10 extreme edition. However, even on first boot noticed that performance is a bit compromised and on checking it appears that 4GB RAM is 'hardware reserved' leaving only 2GB as usuable RAM. contacted HP support -- their support was anything but support... 2 of their support people even told me that it is 'normal'......the laptop itself is pretty good but i cannot use it with only 2GB RAM. i have tried all the usual tricks -- done MSCONFIG... max memory is NOT checked at all (and readjusting it to 6GB does not change anything). done full recovery (since it is new there was nothing set up anyway) and yes, the issue does not go away... toyed with the idea of changing RAM sticks, but no RAM hatch so hesitant to do anything since it might void warranty... just windows and no other programme uses almost 1.6 GB RAM leaving nothing and if i open anything else, it slows down, unsurprisingly... i have more or less given up and planning to return before the 14 day period but it will be a shame to give up on such a good laptop... Please help... any help will be appreciated.
