What happened was that I connectec a external usb hdd, and the normal windows "new device sound" sounded, but I could not find the device anywhere in windows; my-computer ect. So I disconnected the USB cable from PC, and as soon as the cable disconnected I heard a "click-fizz" sound from the PC and the it whent dark, and after it wont power up any more.
I tried disconnecting every possible thing, RAM, HDD, battery ect. but there is no reaction from the power LED/button. I also tried with an external display but still nothing.
I cannot see any visible damaged components on the MB and there is no noticable burnt or electrical smells inside the computer.
But what I did notice is that as soon as i connect power cable the cpu/mb fan starts running and keeps running until power cable is unplugged, the power button is unresponsive and no light or bleep/sounds. Just the fan running.
So my question is, has anybody had this happen before? My guess is the computer was shorted by the USB port due to faluty USB-device.
Is there any hope of salvaging the PC, maybe a fuse that might have blown, or could it be a faulty power supply?
Or am I stuck with a giant paper weight now?
