Installing a HP Z Turbo Drive G2 on a HP Z840

Hi All

I have a new HP Z Turbo Drive 512 G2.  I want to install this on my new HP Z840.  I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest 2.14 Rev.  I have installed the Turbo drive as according to the HP Z Turbo Drive g2 installation guide.  I am installing a new install of Windows 7 Pro with a USB boot drive. It goes through the install without issues until the point where it needs to know the drive it will install the OS, but its does not recognise the Turbo drive.  I have ensured that this is the only drive installed for the OS. I have only updated the BIOS to the HP Z440/Z640/Z840 Workstation System BIOS 02.14 Rev.A.  I am sure I have installed the turbo drive correctly. Can anyone please advise if you have succesffuly installed a tubro drive G2?

Yester was HP Specialist to find solution but he didn't find any solution. He changed systemboard and new system board had little older bios 2.45. After replacement HP Specialis update bios to 2.46 and after update... error....

512-rear fan not connected lol

He tried to come back to previous bios but without success. There is no chance to recover old bios.

Today I waiting one more time for hp specialist and for another board.

As I said I before I have many of this computers so if hp couldn't find solution in their own crappy software they will be replace systemboards everyday.

Just opened a ticket on HP support... Will see.

Hello,

i bought the card, and installed it, but my computer is using the full height bracket, so i just install it, and it is perfect,

in this case i think that the fist card which i was thinking to buy, should work too, right?

thanks

I noticed the very same thing in a Z440 when i bought a Z Turbo 512GB G2 card.

I had the OS on a Z Turbo 256GB and removed the card and inserted the Z Turbo 512GB G2 card but my Z440 failed to install the OS as well despite the latest BIOS. I did put the old card back and moved the 512GB G2 card to another slot and did then start the computer, booting from the old card, and then i initialized and formatted the new G2 card in Windows.

After that i once again removed the old card and placed the G2 card in the correct slot. Now i could install Windows on the new G2 card. I am still puzzled since initializing/formatting the drive not should be required.

So, boot up the computer with the old OS drive and initialize and format the G2 card in Windows Disc Management.

Hi ECdriver,

A computer repair person might be able to help. They will need to find a 250w power supply that will fit inside, and also align with the fan.

Best of luck.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello,

We have recently upgraded from 4.6SP5 to 4.7, and are now trying to apply the 4.7 service packs. When attempting to upgrade to 4.7 SP1 from 4.7, the installation fails. Below is what was found in the logs, can anyone shed some light on what may be causing this? We are using PostgreSQL, that was installed /w the previous 4.6 install of HPDM.

Re: New Nvidia GTX 1080 card on HP ENVY Phoenix 860

So the 1080 GTX fit perfectly. However be advised the current power supply is 470 not 500 as advertised on the HP specs so its a risk if you choose not to follow nvidia recommendations. I just replaced mine with EVGA 75 P2. Also if putting in a 1080 you are better off with a blower style. The current 960 gets very hot near 70 degrees when playing intense games

Compaq DC7800 sound problems/interference

Hi

I have a Compaq DC7800 SFF (p/n KB929ET#ABU) which has interference on the audio.

It is running SoundMAX Version 6.10.1.7255 and I have uninstalled the driver and downloaded the latest from HP, without success.

Audio output shows up on the Sound category on Control Panel, that is the green bars go up and down the volume slider.  However there is no audio output from the speaker.  When I plug in a pair of headphones the only output is interference.

Any suggestions to resolve this problem would be much appreciated.

Thanks

HP ProDesk 600 BIOS Auto-Update issue

We deployed ~50 HP ProDesk 600 G1's in the enterprise environment I work at.  We have them set to auto-update the BIOS and we deployed a BIOS password.  Every time there is a BIOS update pushed by HP when the machines reboot they appear like they are trying to PXI boot and hang.  Are there any ways to allow the auto-update without providing the password or to just boot normally?

I have a issue with HP Thin client 520, Thin client connect through RDP to VMWare Server, but the thin clients lost the connection. My VMs are 12 and the server is Windows 2012 Server, 128 GB Memory and 2TB HDD. The images below show the properties connection and the error when Thin Client try to connect. Could someone help me?

Audio Dropouts Behringer X32

Hi

I have a problem using my Behringer X32 with my new HP 400 G3 SFF. Whenever I try to record audio in my DAW, Sonar X3, I get dropouts. I have tried the ASIO and the WDM drivers and whilst the WDM is slightly better - it tries to playback the audio, whereas the ASIO dropsout as soon as I click play or record - I can't get it to work.

I have tried changing buffer sizes, latency, etc and I have tried all of the regular Windows tweaks to improve performance but to no avail.

The PC has an i7-6700 processor and 32GB of RAM and an SSD. So should be able to handle it easily.

If I use my old sound cards (Roland SPS25 and an Alesis) I can record and playback 12, 16+  audio tracks just fine.

I have run LatencyMon to try to find the problem but the only thing this picks up on is:

CPU SPEED
______________________________________________________
Reported CPU speed: 3408 MHz
Measured CPU speed: 1 MHz (approx.)

Note: reported execution times may be calculated based on a fixed reported CPU speed. Disable variable speed settings like Intel Speed Step and AMD Cool N Quiet in the BIOS setup for more accurate results.

WARNING: the CPU speed that was measured is only a fraction of the CPU speed reported. Your CPUs may be throttled back due to variable speed settings and thermal issues. It is suggested that you run a utility which reports your actual CPU frequency and temperature.

______________________________________________________

I have set Windows Power for High Performance and set the processor power management to 100% minimum and maximum to try to stop CPU throttling but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas anyone has would be welcome.

Thanks

Steve

Today will be one more time HP Specialist to replaced another systemboard. When I talk with him by a phone he said that problem is escalated and he kindly ask to do not make bios updates for now. All my warranty tickets are opened and escalated.

If I didn'r receive and information for a week I will make updates bios and one more time make phone call to HP Specialist to replace another boards lol

As I said before I'm so angry for this situation that I will regulary will have replacing board. God bless that I have hp onsite carpack.

Thanks for the update BigMaras.  I hope HP get to the solution soon.

The situation you had with the HP engineer is consistent with what I found.  New bios has  a security feature that prevents going back to old bios.

New Bios seems to be setup for G1 models - ie. for rear fans and not for G2 no fans.

HP just need to fix the bios or start sendiing out free fans!
